DJI action cameras have above-average battery life. They last more than twice as long as some action camera brands. In this DJI action battery guide, you’ll learn about battery compatibility, life, and all relevant specs.

DJI Action batteries last longer than 2 hours. And with the fast charge feature, the DJI Osmo Action 4 battery can recharge in less than 50 minutes. The BCX202 battery is compatible with the two newest Osmo Action cameras.

I own the three newest DJI Action cameras: the Osmo Action 3 and 4, and the Action 2. Here’s what you need to know about DJI action battery life, management, and compatibility.

DJI Osmo Action Battery Compatibility

Battery compatibility is important. When I ordered my new Osmo Action 4, I didn’t have to order extra batteries because I had a set of 3 from when I bought by Osmo Action 3 last year.

There are two external DJI batteries for Osmo Action cameras.

1. BCX202-1770-3.85: Compatible with the DJI Osmo Action 4 and DJI Osmo Action 3
2. AB1-1300-3.85V: Compatible with the DJI Osmo Action

Get an extra battery for your Osmo Action 3 or 4.

DJI Action 2 Batteries

While the DJI Action 2 camera has no removable battery, it does have two battery module options.

The following two battery modules are only compatible with the Action 2 camera.

• Front Touchscreen Module: Compatible with the DJI Action 2
• Power Module: Compatible with the DJI Action 2

DJI Action 2

This model has three possible configurations: Camera Only, Camera with Front Touchscreen Module, and Camera with Power Module.

1. DJI Action 2: Camera Only

The camera doesn’t require either of the modules noted above. The stand-alone camera is lighter and waterproof on its own.

Here are the specs for the Action 2 camera.

• Battery Model: Non-removable battery
• Battery Life: 70 minutes (160 minutes when using the Front Touchscreen Module)
• Charging Time: 37 minutes (90 minutes when using the Front Touchscreen Module)
• Battery Capacity: 580 mAh (1880 mAh when combined with the Front Touchscreen Module or Power Module)
• Battery works with these models: DJI Action 2

2. DJI Action 2 (With Front Touchscreen Module)

This module contains both an external battery and an additional front-facing touchscreen.

• Battery Life: 90 minutes
• Charging Time: 53 minutes
• Battery Capacity: 1300 mAh
• Battery works with these models: DJI Action 2

3. DJI Action 2 (With Power Module)

This is your best bet for the longest battery life on your Action 2 camera.

While it has the same capacity as the Front Touchscreen module, the absence of the touchscreen means it consumes less power and lasts longer.

• Charging Time: 53 minutes
• Battery Capacity: 1300 mAh

DJI Osmo Action

This is the first in DJI’s action camera series. It is also referred to as the DJI Osmo Action 1.
