The Ace Pro (Insta360) and Action 4 (DJI) are similar action cameras. They were released in 2023 and both shoot quality footage. I’ll compare the Insta360 Ace Pro vs DJI Osmo Action 4 in this guide.

Ace Pro is the best choice for higher-resolution video (8K) and low-light conditions. It features a flip touchscreen and AI integrations, great for vlogging and content creators.

DJI’s Osmo Action 4 is best if you want a smaller, lighter camera that shoots 4K video. It is waterproof to 59 feet without additional housing and has a longer battery life.

Ace Pro and Action 4 both have the industry-leading 1/1.3″ sensor, wireless mic capability, and outstanding image stabilization features.

Here’s the full breakdown of these two action cameras. I own the Ace Pro (review) and the Osmo Action 4 by DJI. I took the photos in this post of my cameras. And I have used both in content creation. I’ve been shooting with action cameras since 2012.

Insta360 Ace Pro vs DJI Action 4: The Best One?

Ace Pro is your best choice for vlogging. It shoots higher resolution, has a great flip touchscreen, and exceptional low light performance. DJI Action 4 is your best choice for a true action camera. It is smaller and lighter, waterproof to almost 60 ft, and still shoots 4K video,

Ace Pro vs Osmo Action 4: Which one is best for you? If you are a content creator, I recommend the Ace Pro. Here’s why:

Both cameras have the same size sensor: 1/1.3″.

  • Ace Pro: The Ace Pro camera shoots up to 8K video (compared to the 4K of the Action 4). It shoots 48 MP still photos, much higher res than the 10MP of the Action 4. Check Ace Pro on Insta360 or Amazon.

If you’re creating actual action camera footage, the Action 4 is my recommendation.

  • DJI Osmo Action 4: The Action 4 is lighter, smaller, and has a longer battery life. It is also waterproof to 59 ft (almost double the 33 ft of the Ace Pro). And the MRSP price is right between the Ace and Ace Pro.

Appearance, UI, and Battery

The Action 4 is noticeably smaller and lighter than the Ace Pro. And because it doesn’t have the flip touchscreen, the Action 4 feels tighter and more durable. The Ace Pro has two release clips to keep the screen in place.

User Interface: Both cameras have easy-to-follow on-screen menus. The power button, shutter release, USB port, and SD card port are in the same place on both cameras.

Capturing Photo and Video: Specs

Both cameras capture stunning video. But there are some notable differences.

Capture Specs: Ace Pro Wins. Ace Pro and Action 4 cameras have the same large sensor (1/1.3″). Ace Pro has exceptional night and low-light filming. And the Ace Pro shoots higher resolution video (8K vs 4K) and photos (48MP vs 10MP).

But if you are filming for fun or to share on your social channels, the 4K video of the Action 4 is more than enough.

Audio Specs: Equal. All three cameras (Ace, Ace Pro, and Action 4) have 3 mics. The Ace Pro integrates with Apple AirPods via Bluetooth for a great wireless mic. And Action 4 works with the DJI Mic for wireless audio.

And all three models has wind noise reduction for better audio on windy days.
