Insta360 now has three flip-screen action cameras, all released in 2023: the GO 3, Ace Pro, and Ace. I’ll compare the Insta360 Ace Pro vs GO 3 in this guide.

Ace Pro is the best choice for higher-resolution video (8K) and better image quality (industry-leading 1/1.3″ sensor). GO 3 is best if you want a super lightweight camera with decent video capability.

All three cameras (Ace Pro, Ace, and GO 3) all have flip touchscreens, good battery life, wind noise reduction, and great image stabilization.

Here’s the full breakdown of these Insta360 cameras. I own the Ace Pro (review) and the GO 3 models. And I have used both in content creation. I’ve been shooting with action cameras since 2012.

Insta360 Ace Pro vs GO 3: The Best One?

Ace Pro is best if you need higher-resolution video and better image quality. GO 3 is best if you want a super lightweight camera with decent video capability.

Ace Pro vs GO 3: Which one is best for you? If you are a content creator, I recommend the Ace Pro. Here’s why:

  • Ace Pro: Shoot up to 8K video with exceptional low-light performance. It has the largest sensor of similar action cameras (tied with DJI’s Osmo Action 4). And it integrates AI features better than any camera before it. Check Ace Pro on Insta360 or Amazon.

The price of these two models is very similar – depending on the week and the available deal. But there are reasons to go for the smaller, lighter GO 3 camera.

  • GO 3: So you can shoot up to 2.7K video and get up to 170-minute battery life. But the real feature is that the camera separates from the pod. And it weighs just 35 grams. Clip it just about anywhere and shoot stable, high-resolution footage. Check GO 3 on Insta360 or Amazon.

Similarities and Differences

  1. Similar Features: Ace Pro and GO 3 both have great stabilization, solid battery life, wind noise reduction, and a touch flip screen.
  2. Key Differences: Ace Pro (and Ace) are waterproof. The GO 3 camera in the pod isn’t waterproof. Ace Pro shoots 8K and GO 3 shoots just 2.7K video. Ace Pro shoots 48MP still photos and GO 3 captures 6.5MP photos.

Both cameras use the clamp mount with magnetic assist. You can use your GoPro mounts with both of these Insta360 cameras.

The Ace and Ace Pro cameras are the latest in the Insta360 lineup.

Appearance, UI, and Battery

The GO 3 is noticeably smaller and lighter than the Ace Pro. And when you remove the GO 3 camera from the pod, there is no comparison.

User Interface: The menu options and interface are almost identical. Both were released this year (2023) and are quite intuitive. I found this to be the case, even though I have more experience with GoPro and DJI cameras.

Something that I noticed from the beginning is how fast the Ace Pro runs. It powers on and accepts setting changes almost instantaneously. This is a nice upgrade to the slower operating systems of competitors.

Capturing Photo and Video: Specs

Both cameras capture stunning video. They are made by Insta360, after all. But they aren’t equal.

Capture Specs: Ace Pro Wins. Ace Pro has a larger sensor and exceptional night and low light filming. Ace Pro shoots higher resolution video (8K vs 2.7K) and photos (48MP vs 6.5MP).

But if you are filming for fun or just to share on your social channels, the 2.7K video of the GO 3 is more than enough.

Audio Specs: Ace Pro Wins. Both the Ace and Ace Pro have 3 mics (vs the 1 on the GO 3). And both integrate with Apple AirPods via Bluetooth for a great wireless mic.
