The GoPro beep is pretty well known. And GoPro cameras beep a lot. Turning off the beeps will make for a calmer experience, especially in nature or during a family gathering.
Here’s how to turn off the GoPro beep: On your camera, swipe down to reveal the Menu. Then tap the Sound icon to toggle the sound off and on. You can also turn the sound off via the GoPro Quik app on your phone.
Every GoPro model allows that sound to be turned off. And because all GoPro cameras are mirrorless, there is no actual shutter to worry about.
So here’s how to turn off the audible beeping on your GoPro.
2 Ways to Turn Off Beeps on Your GoPro
There are two ways to silence your GoPro from beeping.
- Using the Mode Setting, Adjust the Beep Sounds on Your GoPro
- Turn Off Sounds Via the GoPro App After Selecting Your Device

GoPro Hero12 Black
Hero12 Black is super easy to adjust the camera sounds.
- Swipe down to reveal the Menu.
- Tap the Sound icon (shown by a musical note). This will toggle the sound off.
- The Sound icon will be blue when on and grey when off.
GoPro Hero11 Black
Hero11 Black is super easy to adjust the camera sounds.
- Swipe down to reveal the Menu.
- Tap the Sound icon (shown by a musical note). This will toggle the sound off.
- The Sound icon will be blue when on and grey when off.
GoPro Hero11 Black Mini
To turn off beeps on your Mini, you’ll use the Quik app.
- Inside your app, go to Camera Preferences > Beeps.
- You can toggle the sound level from High, Medium, and Low to Off.
GoPro Hero10 Black
The Hero10 Black menu makes it easy to adjust the camera sounds.
- Swipe down to reveal the Menu.
- Tap the Sound icon (shown by a musical note). This will toggle the sound off.
- The Sound icon will be blue when on and grey when off.
GoPro Hero9 Black
Hero9 Black is easy to adjust the camera sounds. Simply swipe down to reveal the Menu. Select the Sound icon (shown by a musical note). Toggle this off. It will be grey when off and blue when on.
Here’s what the menu looks like. You’ll see a confirmation message BEEPS: OFF.
You can also adjust the beep volume. Swipe down on the screen to reveal the menu. Select Preferences > General > Beep Volume.
You can select from three audio levels: high, medium, and low.
GoPro MAX
To turn off the beeping on the GoPro Max is really simple. Swipe down on the screen to reveal the menu.
Tap the music note icon. This will toggle the sound (beeping) on and off. You’ll see a confirmation message BEEPS: OFF.
Hero8 Black, Hero7 Black, Hero6 Black
Simply swipe down to reveal the Menu. Select the Sound icon (shown by a musical note). Toggle this off. It will be grey when off and blue when on.

Turn GoPro Sound and Beeps Back On
To enable the camera sounds and beeps on your GoPro, follow the specific instructions for your model.
Once you locate the Sound option (swipe down on the primary menu), you’ll toggle the sound on.
